Executive Order 9066 is adopted in Washington, D.C.

Signed by President Franklin Roosevelt, it authorizes the secretary of war to establish military zones that subsequently serves as internment camps for Japanese-Americans. The legality of the law is upheld by the Supreme Court in 1944.*
